Let's talk about Legs Baby!

Let's talk SHAVING!
Today's tidbit I originally got from my 8th grade dance teacher the night before our big competition. Miss Diane had been teaching dance for MANY years and her daughter was even a prima ballerina! This lady knew her stuff!!!
Conditioner!!!

Not just for your scalp anymore!

Slather that goodness all over your legs and SHAVE!
No really, it makes a great moisturizer for shaving!

I'm big into shaving. No, srsly. Every time I'm in the shower, I shave. To me, there is nothing better than slipping into jeans and feel your legs slide against the fabric. I'm addicted to having smooth legs. I don't care if it's February, -30 degrees outside with a foot of snow and I'm covered in 3 layers of clothes. I WILL have smooth legs. I naturally have really fine, thin leg hair but I still shave all year round- doesn't matter if Wes is out of town or not. It's something I do for me :)

It doesn't matter what kind of conditioner you use. I just grab whatever is cheap and smells good (I'm partial to the coconut Suave for a whopping $1.50 at Walmart). My legs never feel dry and the razor glides right over my skin. I love it!

And to be an even bigger cheapskate, I use Wes's old razors! The razor-blades for his face have to a heck of a lot sharper than what I need for my legs and he has to shave every single day. Once he deems them 'dull', he passes them onto me. I can use them for months at a time before they are deemed 'dull' by me. I love that his have 5 blades and have the smaller pivoting head. With the conditioner slathered all over my legs, I don't need those damn bulky moisture bars around the blades. They get in the way, I think.

To make the blades stay sharper, I've also read that keeping them out of water and as dry as possible can help. The article I read recommended blowing on the blades after you are done with them and placing them somewhere were they won't get wet in-between use. I have a ledge on the top of my shower that I place mine on and always have. Does it help keep it sharp?! Who knows, but it's worth a shot!!!

And the best part?! I don't have to pay a dime on razors for my legs! Not a single dime!

Let's Talk SKIN!!!

Exfoliate! Especially before you shave. It helps clear off the dead skin which gives you a closer shave. I don't do it often; maybe once a month or so. My favorite is a good coffee scrub!!!
Art Naturals Organic Arabica Coffee Scrub 8.8 oz - The Most Powerful Remedy for Varicose Veins, Cellulite, Stretch Marks, Eczema & Acne - Deep Skin Exfoliator That Promotes Cell Repair & Rejuvenation
Arabica Coffee Scrub $14.50 on Amazon

Moisturize! One of the biggest tips I learned from Darik's eczema was the "Soak and Seal Method". It works great in general moisturizing too. Before I get dressed from my shower, I lather on any of my favorite lotions. I really like the Bath & Body Works lotions (I loving Beautiful Day right now). I've also tried in the Nivea In-Shower lotion and the Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer but neither of them really impressed me- though they are better than nothing.
My favorite Bath & Body Works lotion at the moment :)
So let's recap!

  1. Shave! To save money, steal your husband's "old" razors
    1. Conditioner makes a fabulous shave creme. Suave coconut conditioner costs $1.50 and lasts a long time
  2. Exfoliate! No need to do it every day, but once a month will wash away all the dead skin
  3. Moisturize! Before you get dressed after your shower, lather on a good quality lotion. My favorites are from Bath & Body Works.
